What should I make of this letter. Would they really rescind me??

Ok so i got one C and two B, rest A's my final semester. Would they really rescind me the summer before I head off to college???? I got one C first semester as well(my first two C's ever) and I had a way harsher letter and had to explain myself and then everything was fine. Now this again, shouldn't they
know that I am going through the same things?? Should I tell them the same thing as in my last letter or what????? I really didn't expect this as I thought they would remember what happened last semester.... Now I'm really freaking out and I don't want to tell my parents unless my admission is seriously in jeopardy.
Here is a copy of the e-mail they sent me:

Dear Kevin,

Our office has just received your final transcript, and I am writing to express concern with the C you received. This grade shows a level of academic performance below that presented in your application.

Please send a written explanation of any possible extenuating circumstances that would account for your performance no later than Monday, July 28th. You may fax your letter to the attention of --- at ----, or you may send an email to her at ---. Once we have received a written explanation, we will review your response and contact you within two weeks if we require any additional information.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter, Kevin.

Sincerely,

That seems a bit harsh. Do you think the prestigiousness of the school may have a reason for concern for that one C? What class did you 'C' in?

if its true send the same stuff (but reword it ya know)

but idk...you would think that one letter would snap you back into shape..

dude what college was that from?

i have never heard of that happening.

A college likely will not rescind you for a single C. They're probably just doing it to scare you. That being said, it's not out of the question that they may start you on academic probation if you don't have a good reason. And I suppose theoretically if your college was significantly overenrolled they may be trying to make cuts, but I doubt it.

Very likely they never connected the dots between the first letter and the one they send.

My guess is that every transcript with a C might have been flagged and the same letter went out. They very likely didn't pull your file, etc. How would they remember each and every case? You are one of many students most likely and someone was assigned.

Were you accepted ED/EA? I wouldn't worry about being rescinded. I would submit a letter, saying how hard you tried, explaining the ongoing situation, etc. You should be fine and say how you would be sure and use all the resources avaiable and work with your advisor, Mr. so and so, etc., to show that you aren't thrilled with the grade either, but you weren't slacking off,and that you will be sure do all you could to live up to the schools expecations.

the door is closed

If you don't take it seriously (answer them) I think they will rescind you. They are trying to frighten you into taking a more serious view of your academics.
