Im planning on calling FinAid cuz i cant afford Columbia. IMO, i don't think they met 100% of my need (my columbia EFC came out to over 10 times my FAFSA EFC)

Whats the best thing I can say?

"I think you put the decimal point in the wrong place."

HAHAHA yeah you actually should say that. I can't believe they were off by so much, though. I'm worried now, because I turned in documents late and still haven't gotten my financial aid offer yet.

How does the Columbia financial aid compare with other universities?

tell them they have an attactive voice :p

Do colleges work like electronics stores where they do price match? (My georgetown EFC was about 7000 less than Columbia's)

Sort of. It's not automatic, but they'll take a look at your other offers.

Gah I just read this thing on the FinAid book:

"Note that we do not negotiate financial aid awards"

Please tell me they are bluffing

It's not a negotiation like you're buying a used car. It's you telling them that you can't afford to go and that their offer doesn't reflect your family's need, and you asking them to reevaluate it.

HAha I just had a funny image of bargaining for ur finaid like cars

my dad: well I did see some blemishes
FinAid Officer: really? where?
d: science building. your walls are crumbling a bit on the south side
FAO: alright alright. ill take 1000 off. but really. thats the best i can do. 32,000 do we have a deal?
dad: well...

and it would go on

Great images! Amusing post, Stingy!
