"America is known for it's sprinters, not for it's distance runners."
Oh that's where you're wrong dank08. Look out for Ryan Hall, Alan Webb, Dathan Ritzenhein, Galen Rupp, etc. AMERICAN DISTANCE RUNNING IS BLOOMING BABY

Arguing with you probably won't do any good, but I feel I should educate you.
When was the last time an American distance runner held a world record? Won a gold medal in the Olympics? Swept an entire event in the Olympics?

Those guys you listed are great runners, but they are not the best. Distance running may be getting better, but American sprinting is the best in the world. Look at the results of the last Olympics and you will see. You probably won't check though, and you'll just continue with your argument at Alan Webb is the best in the world, which is not even close.

Kenya, Ethiopia and countries like that are known for distance running, not the US.

"I've never understood how we can have 10 of the top 20 400-meter runners in the world, but you go up one event and we're weak" - Nick Symmonds

Field hockey, real hockey (ice hockey), track (spring outdoor, non of that indoor stuff). Ice hockey absolutely tops all other sports though.

What weight class do you wrestle? I wanted to do wrestling back when I was in 7th grade, but I couldn't get a physical at the time, so I didn't. Then this year (junior year) I went out for wrestling at the first practice, went to the first three practices, and thought "I am too out-of-shape for this!" Wrestling is pretty hard-core. I go to all of my high school wrestling matches and love it. My brother just started wrestling this year, and almost qualified for regionals, but missed it by one spot. He wrestles 103 lb. I know how to wrestle somewhat, but I have no stamina because I am just out of shape. I sometimes go into the wrestling room and screw around, but I can never make it to third period and I absolutely suck on bottom. I am a lot better on top. I weigh 123 lb, so when I do practice a bit with the guys, I go with the 119 lb guy and the 125 lb guy. The assistant coach of our wrestling team says to me, "Why did you quit! You could have been good! I have seen you practice around with our guys and you look like a natural!" I respond back with "I like my academics more." ;-)
