What summer job will colleges like more

I'm a rising senior and am currently debating between Mathnasium (math tutor similar to Kumon) and working at TJ Maxx (clothign store) for a job this summer. I have already proven my academic merit through my grades, so maybe the Mathnasium job won't be that beneficial. Anyways, I'm basically just wondering which job will look better to colleges? Hoping to get into UCLA. Thanks!

They most likely won’t want one over the other. Personally, id take the retail job. When you are on summer break, you are gonna want to have a job and having that retail experience opens up a lot of opportunities.

I had a similar dilemma last summer as well. Spoiler: they don’t care! (really–I ended up never getting a summer job and it had very little impact on my admissions outcomes, UCLA included)

If you’re bent on deciding between the two, though, I’d go with the retail job. I think it would be a lot more interesting than catering to kids who are either super ahead or behind in math. And in any case, colleges will focus more on your grades and test scores when evaluating your application. Best of luck!
