And forgot to add, Im interested in majoring in the Business Field. Thnx for reading

anyone have a good idea?

I'm no expert, but I'd say just about all of them.

Binghamton and Geneseo would be a crap shoot, everywhere else I'd say you're in.

You could definitely get in at Fredonia. I'm pretty sure 1260 on the SAT is a little above the median score here, last I checked. And with your good grades on your Spanish and US History Regents, you can opt out of taking a Foreign language or american history CCC.

I would agree with LilyMoon. Although I might add SB as well. A couple of people I know with similar SAT's/GPA were deferred (EA).

I don't see any AP's on your list. I don't think you'll get into Geneseo or Binghamton. I see that you took Math A and Math B but not Pre-Calc. and/or Calculus. For someone going into the business field, it's too bad you didn't take more math in high school. I think your lack of rigor in math is going to hurt you a bit.

Use the online SUNY application and apply to a bunch of them. Save your money and don't bother with Geneseo or Binghamton--they're too much of a reach.

Some good high schools don't have APs. I think he just put down his Regents and Honors classes but could be taking other classes as well.

I don't know of many "top high schools" on Long Island that don't offer AP classes.

His numbers are better than my kid's and she was deferred at Bing (so presumably has a chance of getting in). Definitely could get into Bing or Geneseo with a 1260 and 93.6 GPA if all the other variables are positive.

Try for New Paltz, Oneonta, Buffalo, Oswego, Plattsburgh, and Albany. The key is if your school offered AP classes, yet you didn't take any. They will see the profile of your high school when they review your application.

Not sure if you are looking at Brockport, but I think with your stats you would qualify for scholarship money there. My D has 95 GPA and 1100 on SAT qualifies for 9K over 4 years. More info on their website, it's totally based on GPA and SAT.

Do not listen to nysmile, whoever tells you that you should not apply anywhere because its a reach should be censored because that is just terrible advice. I have many friends that got into Bing and Gen with lower grades than yours. You might not have taken APs, but you did take many honors classes, so its not like you took it easy. Good luck

I agree that you should apply to reaches...you never know. Sometimes you get a surprise acceptance. My friend's twin girls both applied to a reach school and their stats were almost identical...one got in and one didn't. You never know what will stand out on an application and appeal to admissions. I think my son made a mistake not applying to enough reach schools. He ended up getting accepted to every school he applied to and except one where he got deferred. He probably could have stretched his college list a bit more.

Bing and Geneseo are not out of the realm of possibility. Both, and I know for a fact Geneseo, uses a filter system for their admissions. Meaning that virtually everyone who applies to Geneseo excluding athletes and music/art majors are filtered through a computer which discards everyone with below a 1200 SAT. You have a 1260 which means your application will be read and something can catch the Adcom's attention. Your stats are up to par for both of those schools, your SAT being a weakness, respectively, but it is only 20 points below last year's mean score for Binghamton. Definitely apply to any school you so choose. If you don't, you may regret it later on. I would rather apply to a school, get denied than not applying at and wondering for the a long time whether or not I would've gotten in. Good luck.

You have a really good shot. I had a 1290 on my sat and was admitted ea. I don't know about Geneseo though but im assuming they are around the same level of selectivity. Your GPA is definitely up to par and though the standards that those schools will hold this year for regular admissions is hard to predict, don't be frightened by the qualified applicants who were deferred. Most of them will probably be admitted because I know people with high gpas and 1300's/1400's who were deferred and there is no way they wouldn't be accepted regular. Good luck

I too am concerned about the lack of any AP classes. I know my son attends a L.I. H.S. that is on the south shore and is in a very blue colar neighborhood, and he has been taking 2 AP classes per year. I can't imagine any "top" H.S. not offering them. Maybe the poster just lumped his under 'Honors"?

Other than that, all that has been aid is true, Bing and Geneseo are a reach, everything else should be fine. If you are interested in business you might be better off at Albany, Adelphi or Hofstra anyway.

I think any opportunities for internships are going to be very limited at Geneseo because of it's location.

re AP classes; Scarsdale High School is one of the "best" public high schools in NY and does not offer any AP classes. And some schools only have one AP section of each subject so it's competitive to get into the APs. You can't read too much into lack of APs if the rest of the transcript is good.

Probably everyone of them except for Geneseo and Binghamton -- like Lily Moon said.

Like everyone else is saying, you should be in at all of them except maybe Geneseo and Bing....you have a good chance at those but they will be harder for you to get in to
