What to do if guidance counselor changes senior year?

@bopper I guess my point would be that the retired counselor didn’t need a full brag sheet as he knows my daughter so well. He did sit down with her and ask if there was anything that she wanted to highlight that he might not already know. I am sorry but when a counselor states in his letter that in his over 35 years of teaching and counseling, your kid is one of the most amazing kids he has met, you want that letter to be the one that gets sent to colleges. There is no way that the new counselor can write that kind of letter for my daughter. Teachers from junior year write recommendation letter for kids and they may not be their current teacher and may not even be at the school anymore.

My D’s counselor changed both her Junior and Senior year. We are at a large public HS. She got into her top choice college and all is fine.

Good news everyone! My Counselor reached out to me in specific and affirmed that he’ll be the one writing my letter! I’m elated

It’ll work out for you daughter too @momofmusician17

@gurt567 - Good news for my daughter as well! She met with her new counselor yesterday who said that it would be perfectly fine to use her retired counselor’s recommendation!

@gurt567 Great news on your letter! I bet you are relieved that it is all set. Thanks for updating the thread as well

@momofmusician17 That’s fantastic news!
@readthetealeaves Thank you! I’m quite happy.
