Hello,
I have taken transfer admission in Civil Engineering for Fall 2013. My FASET orientation is on 13th August. The class of Dynamics ( COE 2040 ) is already full. However, I have to take this course this semester. It is a pre-requisite course for many other courses. What should I do? Is there any solution?

Honestly, not really because they won’t give you overload just for that reason. Either someone drops it during phase 2 of registration, or you just kinda have to suck it up. Sorry!

Since, there are two orientations for the transfer students, I am assuming half of the transfer students did not get chance to register yet. Therefore, I think it not even getting chance to register for that course is kind of unfair . We have to wait till 13 Aug.
And for me, it will not be an overload course. I just have to start from here. I think, there are many like me!

Well whether they open another section I don’t know so like we said, we can’t do too much at this point. There have been classes that are all full before its my turn to register and I just had to resort to taking it the semester after. Unfair yes but that’s the way it works. And what do you mean by not an overload course for you? An overload is when they let you register even when the section is full under some special circumstances.

I misunderstood the overload course. I thought it is an overload course when a student take more than 18 or 21 credit hours. Thanks for your replies.

if someone opens this thread to know the answer, to them - the advisers will over-ride the course to register under this kind of situation. However, they will not over-ride as many as you want. They helped me over-ride 2 courses. I think they will not allow you to register more than 12 credits by over-riding.
