What to do/look for with a long-term goal of financial managerial type job?

My long-term goal/dream career is to be a CFO, controller, financial manager, or etc type occupation as of this moment (well aware once I start working in the field that may change). I’m about to become a junior in my undergraduate with a BBA in Accounting and planning to afterwards obtain a MAcc with a concentration in Taxation or Financial Reporting & Auditing in hopes to obtain my CPA. Hopefully next year (my junior year) or the following year (my senior year) I’m able to obtain an internship that leads to a full-time job.

My questions are;

  1. Should I pursue a concentration for my MAcc in Taxation or Financial Reporting & Auditing with the mindset of obtaining a managerial occupation?
  2. Am I completely wrong in my approach and I should focus a different avenue such as a degree in management, an MBA, degree in finance, or maybe even something else?
  3. How exactly does one make the transition from being an accountant to a managerial accountant because I know one of the requirements to obtain a CMA certification is two continuous years of management accounting or financial management?
  4. Are there specific industries that would give me better experience than others for future employment in a finance managerial type industry?
  5. Is there anything else that you think would be great advice that I should know?

Furthermore, I’m aware that there aren’t exact 100% in stone answers to all my questions. I’m just wanting as many perspectives as possible.
