What to do over the summer for comp sci?

I want to major in comp sci and plan on aplying to, among other places, CMU, UC Berkeley, Caltech, Northwestern, and maybe MIT or Stanford.

Last year I worked in a lab over the summer at the University of Pittsburgh doing research on neurodegenerative diseases, and if I can’t find anything else that’s what I’ll do this summer too.

Since I like comp sci and am planning on applying with that major, I would like to do something over the summer that fits more with comp sci. Are there any really good programs or similar opportunities that I could do a project on artificial intelligence or something similar that I would enjoy a lot and also would look really good for applying to the top CS college programs??

Just realized I posted this in the cmu thread. Didn’t mean to do that I’m gonna repost it somewhere else sorry

@audblock Go to Hampshire Math. Its a six week intensive math program at Hampshire College in Massachusetts.
Its a test in program for CS and math major hopefuls who are still in high school. All the top schools favor Hampshire Math as a summer activity, because its has strict requirements to get accepted and because its rigorous.

MIT, Cal Tech and CMU look for math skills for all students but especially for CS majors. Most other schools on your list will like that too and already know about Hampshire Math.

If you’re in the Pitt area and you’re a strong student, you could work at CMU as well – or take CMU summer classes.
