This summer, should I take an SAT prep class to help with the PSAT, or take part in a research program at Polytechnic University, which would get me a project I could submit to Siemens-Westinghouse?

The advantages and disadvantages of both are known, but I have no clue as to what I should do. Help?

^unless they have some super secret method for doing well on the psat then not really. as long as you take plenty of practice tests, you'll do fine.

The benefit of SAT classes is marginal, unless you have some sort of specific test-taking problem, which would probably rewuire more specialized help anyway.

The benefit of the research, on the other hand, is enourmous to the point that it would not be possible to fully explain it in this post.

If you're aiming for a great score on the PSAT and SAT, don't do a prep course. They will regurgitate many things you already know or could find in a book you can get from the library.

The more practice tests you take, the better you will do - you will understand the test more.

Research all the way, you don't know how lucky you are to have such an opportunity.
