What to do when the professor sucks and the book sucks even more

I really don't know what's going on anymore.

Topic: Applied E&M

Youtube videos have been very helpful and doing practice problems from the book for me so far in physics, even though the book is incompetent at explaining the topics. Really, I not learning physics from either the chapter readings or the professor, I only seem to learn physics from diving into the problems and going to my TA if I get stuck on any. That seems to be the case with many in my class as well.

I don’t learn much from my lectures and I don’t truly understand things unless i do the practice problems in the book. What helps tremendously is a solutions manual if you can get one which explains how to do some of the problems step by step. It helps a lot if you can see how something is done so maybe even ask someone who can do the problems and just have them write out the steps for problems you’re stuck on.

There’s no way you can drop the class and take it with a different/better professor next semester? If not, try to do outside research on the subject. Youtube lectures are a great place to start if you want to watch videos- you could also try finding other textbooks in the college library.

Study groups and online. << saving my ass for my biology course.
