What To Do When You Are Waitlisted at Binghamton...

Hi everyone,

So Ive seen many of these Waitlist threads pop up and I am currently a Binghamton Senior who was Waitlisted and eventually Accepted for the Fall of 2004. I might be a bit old, but I think I can help everyone out.

When I was Waitlisted I was also freaking out because Bing was the most affordable option on my list and I didnt want to get into other schools that cost 2x or 3x as much.

The best thing you can do if you are waitlisted...is show that you want to go Binghamton. Show the admissions office that you are very interested in the school and that you would do anything to go there.

That includes either:
A) Writing a letter to the admissions office or
B) Traveling up to Binghamton on a Weekday and Meeting with your associate admissons officer (Which is what I did)

When I visited Binghamton, I did not schedule the appointment or meeting with my associate admissions officer, I just drove up there with my parents.

Either way...you need to show that you are interested in the school in order to get accepted. I was waitlisted and then around the middle of May after others had sent in their offers, I got a letter from Binghamton telling me that I had been accepted.

Good Luck!

i wrote my admissions counselor a few letters and spoke with her in person and told her how it was my first choice...I was rejected. People with grades very similar to mine got accepted/waitlisted.

what are the average stats for being accepted to Binghamton - what are they looking for?

look at the following for stats re admissions -- but also remember that all of these are for prior years, current year's stats are not yet available, and it has been becoming harder and harder to get accepted. according to an entry on their admissions blog, they received over 26,000 applications this year.
