Hi I’m an international student. My counselor, not so familiar with the Commonapp and English, told me that she made a mistake in the school profile: she listed it as independent while it is public.
Will this mistake harm my chance and is there any way I can correct or at least make up for it by e-mailing the admissions committee or something?
Please help! the deadline is coming!!
Thanks in advance!!
Why doesn’t your GC send a corrected profile or a note with the corrected information? Seems like she should correct her mistake, and it would be much better coming from her.
It seems like a pretty minor distinction in any case, but if she is not willing to correct it, you can certainly email your AC at each school with the accurate information.
But it’s on Common application and it’s submitted so that cannot be changed. Should I ask her to personally send an email?
She could do that but why would that distinction matter to any American college? Independent or public – won’t matter to anyone here.
This really isn’t a big deal. Lots of applications arrive with minor mistakes. For those that matter, a quick email from (in this particular case, from the guidance counselor) with the correction should take care of it. If she doesn’t, you can do it - but for an international student, this distinction really isn’t critical.
