My daughter has been waitlisted at 1 BFA school (actually her top choice)and 1 BA school for MT. She has gotten into another BA school with MT but it is last on her list of school choices for many reasons but mostly because it is for commuters and has an okay reputation for training. She really needs to move on and live away from home. She wants it and she is ready! She wants a BFA. HOWEVER it sounds like transfering is very difficult. It concerns me that she would have to start preparing for applying again this summer and prepping for auditions in the fall. As we already experienced this year, it is a very challenging and time consuming process. How will she be able to stay happy or settled at all at the school she ends up attending in september. Do any transfer students have advice? Should she do unifeds this time? Apply to different schools or the same? I hate thinking she would be rejected all over again. Maybe just maybe she will get into one of the waitlisted schools but that too seems difficult. Oh help.......she is the hardest worker and most determined person I know. As she says the field is 99.9% rejection. I don't know if I can stand it as her parent. Any advice would be so appreciated. As you can see I am overwhelmed. HELP!

Hey shehasit! Welcome to the boards. Your D's situation sounds very similar to mine... I'm a senior in HS finished w/ auditions. I was waitlisted at my #1 school (it is a BM), accepted into a BFA that was way too expensive, and also accepted into a BA or BS (not sure) that is not nearly as competetive.

My advice would be to have your D get in touch with her first choice school - Let them know that you are definitely still interested, that you got a great feeling from that school and that you are hoping for the best, etc.. I have been doing this & I think maintaining a very good relationship w/ my #1 school. If things don't work out w/ the #1 school, you can always try that BA program - maybe your D will end up liking it there! There must be positives in every situation..

and to end w/ the cliche -- "everything happens for a reason!" lol Best of luck to you and your D :)
