I am going to be a junior next semester.
I am going to be taking honros lit, regular physics, AP calculus AB.
I am wondering if I should take AP economics or AP biology.
I like both science and math.
I am afraid of taking Ap Biology because people say it requires a lot of work and time.
I don’t know if I will be able to fit all those and get a good grade.
Please HELP!
Both classes can be a lot of work, but especially depending on what you need, I’d recommend biology. It looks a lot better on the app, it’s usually worth 2 lab science, which are needed for all majors but some engineering disciplines and physics (cause they take chem and physics instead), and going into junior year, you will be able to handle at least more than what you had before, so I think you’ll be fine. Plus, if you’re really motivated, you can always self-study economics pretty easily.
It depends on what major you want to pursue
If you REALLY like science, then I say AP Biology. It won’t be easy with physics and calc, but shouldn’t be overkill like taking AP Bio and AP Chem in the same year. A lot of people say that combination is killer. However, are you taking a social science or foreign language class as well?
I took both last year, and it really depends on your teacher. I had a great teacher for AP Bio who really worked us well and taught us a lot, so the exam was a really good time for my class. My econ teacher was kind of shaky because it was his first time teaching econ in a long time. Even so, the exams were both pretty easy.
virsha24: I want to major in biology or econ. that's why its such a hard choice for me:(
southernbelle16: I am gonna be taking chinese next year. And if I take econ, that will be for my social science class
I would go with AP Bio. Yes it is a lot of work, but if you start early and work diligently you should be fine. You can always self-study the Economics. It would be considerably harder to self-study AP Bio than Econ.
I would go for Econ. I loved that subject
AP Econ is not a difficult exam. My teacher was NOT that good and very disorganized which I assure you all of my classmates can attest to. I scored a 5 on the exam and many of my classmates who did poorly in class got 4s and 5s.
The concepts are easy to catch on to especially if you watch ACDC Econ videos and do practice multiple choice tests. Just note that multiple choice counts for a majority of the test, so focus on that.
If your school requires and economics class, you can take AP econ to satisfy that requirement while getting AP credit, and I would definitely go for that.
