What type of GPA do most accepted students have?

I am very interested in Mac, but I had a pretty bad first two years in high school, but a strong upward trend. I am a junior now, 3.9 GPA now, cumulative 3.25 between my first two years. I assume my GPA is fairly low compared to accepted students. What is the typical GPA for them?

Hello, Ch1746!
Macalester has an online profile for the last admitted class of 2017. [Class Profile - Welcome Admitted Students - Macalester College](http://www.macalester.edu/admissions/admittedstudents/classprofile/)

Macalester does not have a typical GPA. Applicants come from high schools all over the world with different methods of recording academic performance and varying levels of academic rigor. We take great care to understand a student’s academic success and extracurricular commitments in context of their school and environment. No student is evaluated solely on one thing. We try to be aware of, and thoughtful about, students’ performance in light of many other factors.

If you choose to apply, I encourage you to explain your grade trajectory in the “Has there been a significant fluctuation in your grades at any point during grades 9-12 (up or down)” question in the “Writing Questions” section of the Common Application.
