I have been accepted to the Lawrenceville School, and am heading there in this September, entering as a 3rd former (10th grade).

I have already read through Lawrenceville's "Recommended Laptops" page on their website, but am still deciding between a Mac and a PC; which is better suited for school work in the US.

Also I would appreciate it if you could include (in the reply) recommendations for student laptop models/brands, not too budget-like, but not over-the-top desktop-replacement types either.

I actually was having a good chuckle about this during finals last week. It was the English final, and most of it was just essays, and I was sitting in the back of a large theatre (where finals usually take place.) Out of the 200 people in front of me, I counted something like 3 PCs vs. 197 Macs. I use a PC and it has been fine (though Windows 8 can be cumbersome at times), but based on this I’d say (at least at my school) the vast majority are Macs.

@girl28 3rd form is generally ninth grade, but Lawrenceville uses a different system, so Phuridej is right!

If you can afford it, I would suggest a mac. They’re really easy to work with and Apple is a great company. Also, not that you need to go along with what everyone else is doing, but it is probably true that the majority of students at US boarding schools have macs.
