So as my title says it,what major would be best to work at Boeing? I was thinking mechanical or Aerospace bu I looked into Aerospace engineering and I watched a few videos on it and it was not what I expected. Can a mechanical engineering degree get me to my “dreams”? Thanks for the help
They hire engineers of all disciplines
It will be easier to name the types that Boeing does not hire. Off the top of my head: biomedical and environmental.
There are also exceptions
Actually they do hire environmental engineers. My wife is one and worked in the aerospace industry although not at Boeing. You may not be directly working on aircraft design, but some of the manufacturing processes do involve chemicals that are hazardous (to some extent anyways) and need to be accounted for and handled in a safe manner.
During part of my career I worked for Boeing and there were just about every kind of engineering discipline represented as there are so many aspects to designing and building planes that all those types of engineers are needed. Interesting to note that very few actually had degrees in aerospace.
I used to work at Boeing. Off the top of my head, I’d rank it 1-CS, 2-ME, 3-EE or IE. I used to work in a department of about 70 people, and only remember two people with Aero degrees.
Boeing is involved in all kinds of engineering that has little to do with airplanes. I could absolutely see them hiring environmental and biomedical engineers.
When you do the Boeing factory tour, do not throw your resume folded as a paper airplane onto the factory floor. They hate that.
