What undergraduate major will best help me prepare to become a neurosurgeon?

I know my undergrad major doesn't matter for med school but I want to know which will be the best. I'm thinking of majoring in neuroscience as of right now.

Absolutely no college major will prepare you to become a neurosurgeon. Your performance in medical school will determine you eligibility to enter a specific specialty. Top class grades, honors in your clinical rotations, USMLE scores in the top 5%, surgical research with publications during med school and very strong recommendations from your surgical preceptors–you must have all these to be considered.

Much, much too soon to be thinking about your specialty. Worry about getting into med school first.

Any major, absolutely does not matter. Just get high college GPA and decent MCAT score and cover all other requirements to be a good Med. School applicant.
