Fun. Undergrad Business. Graduate degree psychology. I work as a psychologist.
I double majored in Physics and Psychology, then had a Math minor (mainly due to being a Physics major and only needing one more class). Once I was medically discharged from the AF we decided to have kids and I’d stay home. I got bored at home… so started substitute teaching to get a change of pace. That was 19 years ago. I fell in love with it and am fortunate to be at a school where the teachers/admin recognize my ability so I get to actually teach most of the time rather than babysitting as most subs do. I usually stick with the math/science classes (always high school) and occasionally also fill in full time for maternity, military, or other illness leaves. I suppose I use my degree content, but since it’s at the high school level what I use most is my Psychology knowledge I think - how to motivate people, etc.
My other part time job has been raising English show ponies. I rode in college, but it has nothing to do with my degree!
Hubby majored in Civil Engineering and owns his own CE company.
But both of us are wondering what we want to do when we grow up, esp now that youngest has graduated college. We’re too young to retire, but feel the urge to move on to “something” - just not sure what or where. Within a couple of years we’d like to have something figured out.
I started as a journalism major, but realized quickly that I hated interviewing sad people and that I had no desire to be a foreign correspondent, so I switched to poli sci with a history minor and went to law school. It was my dream since age 9 to be a lawyer so I pretty much just went to college as a way station. If I could have gone straight to law school, I would have done that after HS. I chose poli sci and history because they were easy for me and less boring than math to me. For over 30 years, I have worked as a civil litigator/trial attorney practicing insurance defense. I am looking at retiring in a few years and have a sort of amorphous plan to establish a small firm with a good friend of mine to end off both of our careers.
H was a psych major with a photography minor who worked in mortgage banking before going to law school (where we met). He has been in private practice his entire career, specializing in wills, real estate and trusts and estates. He often says that he feels his psych background is the single most helpful thing to him in his practice. He does a lot of negotiating and is very good at it. I,OTOH, rely on my claims people to negotiate my cases because I prefer just to try them. I never even took psych 101.
D has her masters in special ed with her UG in early childhood education with a music concentration (this doesn’t qualify her to teach music). She taught for one year, hated it, and did a fellowship with UJA for a year working in education. She then worked for awhile as a SEIT (special ed itinerant teacher) but decided it was not for her. For the past year, she has worked for an educational tech firm, where she trains teachers in service to deliver the company’s products. Most of her co-workers also have education backgrounds. She loves it. She also spends time playing music at open mics and with friends.
Oldest son studied photography. He didn’t finish college and now works as a mailman. He often stops along his route to take pictures.

Dunno, I don’t think H’s accounting degree had much to do with his career in IT and computers.
I have an accounting degree but I’ve never worked as an accountant. I’ve been in the beer business, with the same company, for 29 years.
