<p>I studied Molecular Biology and I manage private corporate jets. Not much connection there!</p>
<p>I majored in journalism and later became the writer for the CEO of a Fortune 200 company. Still writing, but it's more lucrative than newspapering. Much more.</p>

<p>BA political science (picked it because it had the fewest requirements so I could take other courses in everything from Taoism and Chinese Art, to Dostoevsky, to Physical Geography).</p>
<p>MJ Journalism (picked it because I always liked to write, and I could interview people about everything from conditions at juvenile hall to cloning). Been a newspaper reporter, magazine writer, journalism professor, book reviewer... won awards in legal reporting, science reporting, feature writing, sports writing (!), business reporting. A few years ago, I rediscovered poetry, something I loved growing up, and I've just had my first chapbook of poems published. </p>
<p>Daughter who got a BA in Art, just about to start a masters program in elementary school teaching. She also hopes to continue translating for an Italian magazine.</p>
<p>I think there's a lesson somewhere in this about following your interests and, if you have enough of them, something will work out.</p>

<p>I'm have certifications as a CPA, CISA, CISSP, and in computer forensics and run the Global Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance office of Seagate Technology, named the "2006 Company of the Year" by Forbes' Magazine. I love it here in the redwoods just north of Santa Cruz, CA; and spend my free time with my family--either sailing on the Monterey Bay or visiting San Francisco and the Napa Valley on the weekends.</p>
