What will happen to my acomidations? please help!!!

I was approved for acommidations for the SAT and AP exams a few months ago. I get 50% extra time and large block answer sheet for my tests because of my ADHD and Dislexia. I've been approved for it and everything but the problem is that I'm moving in the next month.

I'm staying in the same state but a different county and I heard accomidations have to be approved with each school you have them at so am I gonna lose my accomidations for my Tests??

I really need the extra time for the reading section and I have to move now because my mom just got the only job oppurtunity shes gotten since she lost her job and she starts in the beginning of February.

Has anyone with acommidations moved during the school year? If so did your acommidations go with you to the new school?

Accommodations for SAT and AP are granted by the College Board, not by your school or county. They travel with you anywhere. You should have a letter from the College Board which includes your SSD number. When you register to take the SAT you need to provide that number. There also may be some deadline that you need to register by in order to receive the accommodations at a particular test site. So as soon as you know where you are going, register!

What is school specific is whatever accommodations you have at your school–do you have an IEP or 504 plan? Those need to be redone at whatever school you go to.

Good luck!

Even though your accommodations approved by College Board will travel with you, not every testing location is able to provide accommodations. As soon as you know which school you will be attending you must go and see the school counselor immediately. He or she will be able to find a location where you can test. Good luck, I hope you do really well.

Very good advice here. When you move, take your letter from College Board with you to visit your counselor. Do this as soon as possible. In order to receive the accommodation, the right materials will need to be ordered by the testing coordinator. Please let them know as soon as you can to increase your chances of being accommodated.

We were told to provide the SSD code on the testing papers, and if the desired testing location could not accommodate, he might have to go elsewhere to take the test.

The SSD folks at the College Board are very responsive; ask them because they are the ones who decide ultimately.

Thank you so much! I have the SSD code on a letter they sent me!
