With undergraduate studies coming to a close, I can basically report what I've got going on. Note that I transferred from California State to Cornell University. I studied economics in the College of Arts and Science and plan on applying to law school in this upcoming october/nov/dec. Here are some stats, so let me know how I can do mostly in relation to my LSAT score:

LSAT: untaken (current preptest high is 169 but I still got till october before the real test)

Cumulative GPA: 3.794 (Still have this semester to get it to 3.8)

Next year I will do a MSc Education Policy Oxford University which finishes in 1 year (I want to study education law)

Half hispanic (Nicaragua/Costa Rica)

ECs: Cornell Economics Team, Cornell European Studies Research Fellow (study abroad + grant), Fresno State Athletics Club President, Elementary School and Middle School Volunteer, internship at a tax law firm (summer two years ago), and more.

So, let's assume assume that I get the 169 on the LSAT like on my preptests. What schools should I look at? Now, what if I improve that score over the 10 months I have free - then what schools are in my range?

You know, in that range even a one or two-point fluctuation is going to change things a LOT. I hate to say it, but you’re going to need a real LSAT score before anybody can target you. (A 174 is Columbia or maybe even Harvard territory. A 172 is something like Penn. A 171 might be Duke. A 169 might be Georgetown. A 167 is something like USC.)

I figured something like that. But it’s the only thing I have left to narrow down at this point. Are those scores you gave generic or specific to my qualifications? Do my qualifications even matter?

I adjusted for your GPA but didn’t consider the rest of it, which I don’t think will matter too much. I know you’re anxious to know more sooner, but the truth is that you have a broad spectrum of possible universes still waiting to be “specified.” I wish I could tell you more.

If you do pull out 169, you will get T14. Probably in at Georgetown, Cornell. ED at Mich or UVa and you have a good shot at either. Out at HYS, Columbia, NYU.

It’s not clear to me that Nicaraguan is URM, so I didn’t adjust for it. The underlying point (the sensitivity to even a single-point variation) remains.

Good thing you recognize employment problems within the legal field.

Now as far as your masters go. Its pretty worthless to them. Rarely do masters degrees matter (maybe an MS/PHD in tech for IP). And the fact that its a mickey mouse degree (education policy?) doesn’t add much value.
