UC colleges for my D? she's a junior now. UW GPA 3.39. W gpa 3.81. So far no SAT scores but plan to work hard to get as high as possible. A lot of EC activities. I know Berkely would be really hard to get in, but would it be possible if she improves her GPA during senior year? Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm sure your daughter can get into UCSD, UCI, UCR, UCM, UCSC, UCSB, and UCD. Just remember to fill in as much as you can for the application and be extremely detailed on your answers! Apparently I was rejected from UCSD because I was missing a few points in their point system. If I had filled out the "both my parents did not go to a higher institution of education" bubble, I would've been accepted apparently :) I have lower GPAs (UW and W) than your daughter, so I'm sure she can get into the aforementioned schools.

UCLA and CAL may be a possibility, but it'll be difficult! However, I don't think she'll be wasting money by applying to them. A part of the admissions process is unpredictable and "random", so you'll never know what happens. Senior year grades will not matter due to the fact that they only view grades before senior year for the admissions process.

FiveKey, thanks for your reply. You read my mind. I was wondering if applying would be a waste of money. Seems to be more to the ecuation than SAT, EC, and GPA's..

GPA and SAT don't seem to be dependably predictive for UCLA; being economically disadvantaged can play a significant role.

GPA and SAT are not the only determination of acceptance to UCSD/UCD. Make sure your daughter have a lot of volunteer hours, take summer classes to max out the number of a-g courses. Lot of ECs also maynot mean much unless the ECs provide leadership positions. I know someone who plays sports for 4-year did not get any points for the UCSD.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I'll make sure my daughter does everything possible to increase her chances...

she doesn't have that option towards her advantage....
