What would be the hot career(s) in the post bailout world?

Not a career, but a big cost savings......When purchasing furniture, purchase good quality items in neutral colors. That could qualify you to "stage" a home. You could live rent-free in a high- priced home that's on the market.
That's what's happening in my neighborhood and it is actually helping to sell the homes.

My daughter is very interested in Occupational Therapy right now. She's a junior in h.s. I realize it's not one of your top-paying careers, however there are so many directions one can take with this field. And, it's been shown to have highly rated job satisfaction. Definitely up and coming career. We shall see what she eventually decides! :-)

All fields related to our aging population--geriatrics--will be huge. Occupational therapy is among the professions that would work with our aging population, as well as helping folks recover from injuries and health conditions.

I start taking classes to get a diploma in business office tech. specializing in medical offices. The core part of the class cover the basics of working in an office like basic accounting and document processing and the like. The medical part covers billing, insurance, coding, anatomy, etc. I also have to take an internship and become certified. I figure that is the best of both words business and working in the medical field. Plus I know someone who is a nurse and she was really pushing me to go into coding. A friend took this at another school than the one I am and she got a lot of interviews for jobs. But her down fall and the reason she is not currently in the field is her school did not offer internships and the jobs what some experience which she did not have because of the no internship deal. Plus she only did a 6 mth tech. cert. for coding. I guess I will find out in 2 years how it pans out for me.

ps my college has a 97.9% job placement rate in this program.

Yes, medical coding is a very important field/job. It takes attention to detail & I suspect ability to work with the folks at medical insurance companies as well as the medical providers. Somehow I can't see either of my kids being able to handle the details of the job.

You don't think that the people who move money from your pocket to theirs will simply retire? They are taking an extended vacation --perhaps with their spouse and children for the first time-- and plotting their next move.
