Our school is on break right now, but the two schools my son is really dying to get into GW and American he has not heard from. Normally I would call his advisor to ask her opinion, but she is away. Is it appropriate for him or I to call to see whats going on? Do they ever tell on the phone if your child has gotten in or rejected? Is this protocol appropriate? And last if one has a grandfather who graduated and got a masters from a certain school, does that qualify as legacy. Just curious, its a fuzzy matter. THANK YOU!

As difficult as it is for you both to wait, that is what you should do. If their decisions are scheduled to released on a certain date, they will not give you that information anyway. Believe me, we went through this last spring, and I KNOW how hard this waiting is, but it's almost over now.......HANG IN THERE!

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} and best wishes to you both. Hope the next few days bring some FANTASTIC news!

p.s. Yes, the grandfather's attendance/graduation would be considered legacy.

Not all schools consider grandparents for legacy status. Also, many schools only consider undergraduate degrees for legacy status. Not clear if the grandparent in your case got undergrad AND masters. Check the school website. Also, legacy status tends to weigh a lot more in the ED round. It's never easy... :)

There are many kids on the American and GW boards that have not heard yet. Hang in there, it won't be too much longer. Good luck to your S.
