We had to switch papers in class and grade another students DBQ. I think this DBQ deserved a 4, but I don’t know if I’m being too harsh so I was wondering what score you would give this DBQ?
Compromise? What does a compromise mean to you, well tome it means a promise, and no one should break promises. No longer being able to use a compromise to settle a dispute, is a bad thing. We can't use compromises to solve problems, because everyone's view points are different.
First of all the view points on slavery, the North or the South? Slavery or no slavery? Which side do you choose, well either side you pick, someone will have a different view than you. This is one of the many reasons why compromises will not work, it's a mere promise, it's not a law of nature.
Second, political view points, or in other words let's just try to one up each other. Everyone thinks they have the best new way to promote peace, but it never really works. This just leads to a bunch of people fighting over what's right, when they should be collaborating on how to make the world a better place.
The reason compromises will no longer have affect is due to everyone being different. This is a never ending law of nature, everyone will be different, there is not one person on this Earth that will be exactly like you. Someone will always see something different than you, you might come to an agreement, but in the end someone will think of something better. This is why a compromise will never work.
