Starting to get eggplant from my garden and was interested in trying this recipe: Braised Eggplant with Paprika, Coriander, and Yogurt | America's Test Kitchen Recipe Has anyone made anything like this before?

I have tried similar recipes that pair eggplant with yogurt. Ottolengli has some good eggplant recipes.

I have to say that I am a fan of the Connecticut-style lobster roll (no mayo just butter and herbs) over the Maine-style mayonnaise “salad” one, although I will happily eat both. Lobster is so rich on its own.

We like to add just barely enough mayo to moisten the lobster meat, but not to drown it. Let the lobster be the star.

I’m here to report back…if anyone is looking for something new to do with eggplant, this recipe is fantastic: Braised Eggplant with Paprika, Coriander, and Yogurt | America's Test Kitchen Recipe I followed the recipe almost exactly. I did not have cilantro for garnish, so used fresh mint. It worked!

I served it with rice and chickpeas and it was a really hearty (and healthy) meal.

If you aren’t able to access the recipe (don’t feel like creating the free ATK account), you can view a 5 minute video (that’s what I did) here: How to Make Braised Eggplant with Paprika, Coriander, and Yogurt - YouTube

I follow Jacques Pepin, he just showed how to do lobster rolls with both butter and mayonnaise. I don’t know if we can get lobster roll buns here.
He also did an episode about eggplant and something, it looks delicious.

I like Jacques Pepin too. I gave his book Menus (one of Oprah’s Favorite Things ) for Christmas a while ago from Amazon. A way to record your menus, with very nice watercolors from him.

Who knew there were differences in lobster rolls. We were down on the Cape last weekend and had a lobster lunch.

Last week, we found wild sea bass at Costco. A Chinese woman had just put some in her cart and ShawWife asked her how she was going to cook it. Steamed with scallions and a little soy sauce and sherry, I think. ShawWife used similar seasoning, but sauteed I think (following Thomas Keller’s approach to getting the skin crispy but the fish very moist). She’s gotten very good at this method of cooking and it was sensational.

I don’t know if this is comfort food, but I bought wild sockeye salmon at Costco a couple of weeks ago and ShawWife cooked once en papillote (lemon, olives and tomatoes) and once with a vinaigrette glaze (I made the vinaigrette, which is pretty easy).

Other than fish, we mostly eat veggies from local farm and occasional chicken in the summer.

I’m late on the tzatziki talk but we get salmon burgers from Whole Foods, grill them and put on top of grilled English muffins with tzatziki and a Greek salad on the side. Great summery dinner.

I made this today, it’s good and simple, too bad we ran out of ice cream.

Trying to use up pantry before our move. Cooked rest of an old bag of glutinous rice (Thai sticky rice) in canned coconut milk and water (used “sweet” setting in the rice cooker). Was deliciously coconutty and sticky (love that texture), and the best part was that it went in both dinner and dessert directions (dinner with Indian food pouches, dessert with cubed mango).

I was gifted a few huge jalapeño peppers - when I actually also have my own In my garden!

Made this popper recipe tonight. Outstanding! The bbq crushed chips + feta are a MUST! The only change I made was I used whipped cream cheese instead of block - worked perfectly fine. Will def make again.

The method for cutting and deseed-ing the peppers was very effective!

Cold gazpacho for a warm day yesterday:

But it’s downright cold today (62 degrees this morning), so I think I’ll make chili for dinner.

We are drowning (in the best possible way) in tomatoes and it’s been too hot to really “cook”, so lots of salsa, gazpacho, BLT sandwiches in our kitchen lately.

I’ve also been really enjoying charring cherry tomatoes in the toaster oven as a base for pasta dishes and to use as a compote (mixed with charred poblanos and corn) to top fish.

I go to my local Korean market because I like their bigger variety of fish offerings and it’s so much less expensive. I saw whole black cod there and had the fish monger clean and filet the fish for me. I am making Nobu style black cod. I do marinate the fish for at least 2 days as other similar recipes are 2-3 days (12 hours is not enough). I also made the quick pickles and serve with jasmine rice. So easy and delicious!
