I’m trying to get my SAT physics score to a safe range (they release reasoning test scores but not the subject tests, or at least I can’t find them), and I’m wondering what the middle ranges are. My highest score taken (taken before finishing the physics course) was 740 and I’m studying now after completing the course and I’m repeatedly getting around 770. Is that a competitive score? Where am I in terms of science subject test score percentile with that? (my math 2 was 800, if that makes any difference to what my physics score should ideally be)
I think above 750 for both parts of the SAT and SAT subject tests is good enough. Don’t make testing an extracurricular activity. Once you hit this score, move on to something more meaningful.
It’s been said many times. No need to take the subject test again if you scored above a 700. Really, the test is only important to help verify that a student would be able to handle MIT’s rigorous course work. There are other much more important aspects to the application. The only reason to take the test again is if you’re also applying to a school where they care more about test scores than MIT cares about them
