about 250 in my school. Maybe less. At first I liked it, but now it’s a little too small for me.

Between like 1200 and 1300. Each class is about 300 people, maybe a bit bigger.

2100 total. I think maybe 460 in my grade.

Around 2000. My grade has 493.

To those of you in small schools, what do you think the advantages and disadvantages of them are?

My school has about 750 students, which is on the smaller end but is not tiny.

Advantages: You know everyone, less competition to make sports teams/leadership positions/other EC positions

Disadvantages: Bad sports teams as a result of not having many kids to pick from, less AP classes offered because there are fewer teachers, you know everyone, less students to join clubs, fewer EC options

I think there are more disadvantages than advantages…

Like 1.5k.
My school just expanded though so in the next 4 years it will increase.

I have around 2,000 in my school with about 600 in my class (It’s a 10-12 grade school). The amount of people in a grade keeps growing each year. We’ve gone from one of the smaller schools in the district to second biggest.

750 kids per grade. You do the math.

dfree124: well, like I posted, I got to a very small school (250).

Advantages: Not too much competition. Even though I go to a college prep school. Also the mentality really isn’t to compete against each other. You get to know a lot of people in your community. Very small classes, teachers know you well. Lots of one-on-one time with teachers. You get to see your friends a lot. Also, it is easier to obtain leadership positions.

Disadvantages: It gets kind of boring, because you feel like you’ve already met everyone. And if you don’t like the people you’re around, your screwed basically haha. Because first, you can’t get away from them because it’s so closeknit. Also, there’s no new people to meet! I feel like there are more immature people at small schools, because there is more of a sheltered environment. NOT MANY COURSE OFFERINGS. This is what gets me. And the restrictions. Like you can’t take ap this and ap that because you are a sophomore. Drives me crazy, haha.

Over 2,500 kids in my school. About 575 in my grade
…its my sophomore year and I’m still meeting ppl…

Sent from my LG-P509 using CC App

school size of 350 and class size of 95

Over 9000.

School size of about 2,500 people. Class size is more than 500.

Not sure, but around 3200 with 800 or so per class.

Old school size (more typical suburban hs) ~1150 kids, maybe 350 per grade? I used to know everyone in middle school, and even last year, newcomers were pretty easily noticed.
New school size (k-12)…1000ish students. Yep. That’s a class size of 75 kids in my grade…everyone knows each other and has known each other for forever. I like how the teachers know us all, but you’re stuck with the same set of people, which normally isn’t a problem, seeing that most people only have a small group of ‘close’ friends, but it is nice to meet different people.

9-12 grades
About 1050 students in each grade.
The school Is divided by 9-10 on one side. 11-12 on the other.
It’s a HUGE school so no problems.

120 students. (160 including middle school, but the MS is on a different campus)
My graduating class size is 34, we are one of the biggest classes to graduate.

I live in one of the least populated states (Vermont), so many schools are this small. I think the smallness worked in my advantage for applying to college, for recommendations and whatnot.

Less than 50. My graduating class is the biggest in my high school. We have 19. If you aren’t valedictorian, you are outside the top 10%. ***

1000 approx. 250 per class

~900, but getting bigger. My freshman class was 235 (now ~200 seniors), the newest class is 250. I think it’s a good size for a school.
