What's so unique about Duke?

The Duke application requires students to write about why they want to go to Duke- a reasonable expectation- and asking the follow up question: "Is there something unique about Duke that makes you want to come?" My real reasons for applying is there great academic reputation, location, and my teacher who had a fabulous experience there, but none of those are exactly unique. I already started this essay once and it flopped. So if anyone knows any specific strengths of Duke, that would be great. Thank you!
On me: English major, Theater minor. I love acting and play the piano seriously. Very interested in study abroad.

then talk about duke engage or somethign

Talk about something like school spirit or whatever. Read a college book guide on Duke and see what they stress the most.

Its reputation and location are the same for everyone everywhere-- your unique experience is with your teacher. Run with it. If there’s nothing interesting enough with that, you could actually talk about your own perceptions of the school… I mean, I’d probably talk about how it’s North Carolinian, haha, but that’s because I’ve got the personal experiences and the background to back that up as a significant (if more lighthearted) factor.

If you want to talk about your own interests and their strengths there, go to the Duke or college search websites, talk to students, figure it out yourself.

might wan to visit college
