What's the catch?

The campus is immaculate.
The facilities are amazing.
The people (during the tour) were friendly and informative.

Everything seems perfect.

Is there some sort of catch to Northeastern?

Are they trying to cover up something with their beautiful campus?

What's wrong with Northeastern? I haven't been able to find anything other than the occasional rude person over the phone...

Are you seriously asking this question? Northeastern isn’t scamming anyone or hiding some deep dark secret. Just accept the fact that it’s an amazing school. You seem to be in love with it, just trust it.

OP isn’t being serious in saying there must be a catch.

Sure, nice campus, nice facilities, generally good administration. We definitely find things to whine about though… some “long lines and red tape”, lots of rain, dining hall/library/gym gets super crowded during peak hours, not a cheap city or school, some rrrreally dumb kids in your classes, an occasional horrible professor, only ONE reading day (I mean really!)

But all in all, we seem to be a happy bunch.

Emily you don’t seem happy at all about your college choice

correct me if Im wrong but emily i think you went a while ago to NE or you are a senior or something. The part about the dumb kids in class has changed a bit… no?

Hate to break it to you, but there will be dumb kids in EVERY class in EVERY school in the world. Just like you will find one or two professors that make you slam your head against a desk and wonder how they ever got their PhDs.

Nah, I’ve posted way too much on this forum to not be happy with Northeastern. Coming here was a really, really good choice for me and I would 100% choose to come here again. I think my other posts support that.

I was just listing the pretty minor annoyances that most northeastern students have. None of these things are really problems or things that should make anyone unhappy. Every time I mention a possible negative about the school I end up having to defend it… but most of the things I’ve listed are pretty petty and easy to ignore, none of them are things that should make you unhappy with school. Find me someone who says their college is absolutely perfect and some kind of magical haven all the time, and I’ll eat my hat.

As far as kids not being smart… we have some super super smart kids here, many who are smarter than I am. Oi vey, a lot smarter than I am. But like neuchimie (also experienced in college life) said, at any school, you’ll have moments where you’re like “how did THAT kid get into college?” I’ve met some kinda dumb people here. I have no reason to not be honest about that.

But I ended with “we’re generally a pretty happy bunch”.

I guess I could rephrase to “We’re all really happy and love northeastern anyway :)” which is true, but saying things that are so positive and cheery is a bit out of character for me.

I understand Emily. It just seemed like you had a huge list of negatives and then you ended it with one line of happiness. Sorry about that

“Every time I mention a possible negative about the school I end up having to defend it…”

Emily, I enjoy reading your posts, I think they are unbiased, and give me a better picture for the Northeastern. BTW, my daughter is going there in Sep. so your inputs are very helpful.

Yes, posts by Emily and NEU have helped us too. My son is headed there next fall as Engineer/undecided.

My son is a senior…his comments would definitely echo Emily’s.

A senior? As in today he graduated, or he just became a senior? Either way, congrats to the 2010 graduates! Everyone looked very nice this morning.

Graduated. Thanks.

Eh, dealing with ‘M*******s’ and high tuition might be a downer, but NU’s pretty awesome.

M********s’ ???

@n01an10 Mass + holes. Pretty self-explanatory, but it’s just my opinion :B

looked it up on urbandictionary, nowwwww i get it
