what is the difference between ed and ea?

ED is a decision....a contract which binds you to the school. EA is not binding....it gives you the ability to accept offers from other schools and your decision is not due until the regular deadline.

ed-(early decision)it's binding, and you MUST go to the school except if you have extraordinary financial struggles and a lot of times you can only go to as state school. Can only apply one school ed

EA-(early action) non-binding. You get in early, but you don't have to make a decision until May and can apply to as many schools as you want

SCEA- (single choice early action)-same as EA but you can only apply to one school

Many ED schools will allow you to apply to a "rolling" admission school where you would apply very early. Once you get your offer of admission from your ED school you will need to withdraw the other apps.

Don't apply ED if you also plan to apply for finan aid since you lose your ability to compare FA packages, and you may bind yourself to a very big payment.
