Whats the Difference from a Bachelors and an MBA

whats the difference from majoring in business during undergrad and majoring in business when you get your masters(if you're coming from an undergrad field unrelated to business)

In terms of education, a master probably covers everything an undergrad covers, except undergrad has to take it as their first degree and need to take some electives (as some schools such as Haas and Wharton requiress at least some sort of broad liberal arts education).

In terms of environment, you're studying along with more mature students and have more important network as a master student, whereas college you study with basically kids who are only starting their education.

In terms of prestiege, a Master is probably more convincing than a Bachelor, given that the calibre of school is negligible. That's why so many business undergrad goes back to obtain an MBA even though education is very similar (although not every biz undergrad).

Two major differences in my view:

For MBA programs (at least at the tough schools, like UCLA, where I went):

(1) Everybody in the classes have actual business experience, so when you talk about work issues or problems, people can actually relate to the situations; and

(2) The work is more difficult and the students more focused. By this time in life (when you get to an MBA program) you usually are clearer about what you want to do with your career--and understand the competition in the workplace. For this reason, you are willing to work harder and longer to understand stuff and do well in all your classes. So the classes are generally tougher and more intense (remember, I said in general--so yes, there are always exceptions).

Thanks for the great replies. I've always been lost on all this. I know I want to study business, but coming out of high school it definetly wasn't and still isn't the thing I would want to do for my bachelors. I just wouldn't want to be left out of some type of education by going for a masters in buisness without knowing anything basic about it from undergrad.
