What's the internal transfer to engineering like?

I’m a college sophmore. I applied to UMD for engineering as a transfer and got into the university, but not the school. What can people tell me about the internal transfer process?

How competitive is it? The college of engineering website says something like 1800 accepted out of 3000 applications, but doesn’t say how many are internal vs external.

Are internal transfers prioritized over external transfers?

Would I have a hard time getting in as a newly-transferred student as opposed to a freshman who’s been working on it for two years?

Is it based on GPA, course load, extra-curriculars, etc.?

I’ve been trying to get in touch with the transfer advisors but I haven’t had any luck so far. Hopefully someone can help me.

@AdamE18 - Two years ago, at the Admitted Students Day that we attended, they were Very Emphatic that Engineering Transfers were NOT competitive. I’m guessing that’s still true. Meet the requirements, do the paperwork, and you are in.
