I'm offering Electrical Engineering at Bachelors. Do I need to do some short program to enable me pursue MBA since I don't have Business background?
If so what what do I need to do? How easy is it going from Engineering to MBA?
What's the usual route?

Work for several years at a firm, then get your MBA.

Work over the Summer during college then go for the MBA when you graduate.

It's extraordinarily difficult to get into a top B-school right after undergrad (although it is rather easy to go to a no-name B-school). If you want a top school, you generally have to work for a few years full-time. Summer work will rarely cut it.

If you truly have your sights set on B-School and not engineering, then apply for investment banking jobs after college as an analyst with a buldge bracket firm. You can usually work 2 years there and another 1-2 years as a pre-MBA associate at a PE firm. Also with your major, I would suspect that getting a job as an analyst with a VC firm is not out of reach. These routes along with a reputable undergrad and solid GMAT will likely get you into the B-School of your choice. You will also likely have undergrad paid off and about 100-150k in the bank if you’re single.

If you decide to become an engineer, then make sure to score upwards of 720 on your GMAT if you want to get into a top 10 school. Also do some things while you are working that display leadership. Schools like Harvard have no time for plain old smart people. They want to see if you have what it takes to run a company. Make sure important people see that quality in you and can ulitmately write recommendations for you.

Good luck.

please check the original post date before you respond to a 4 year old thread.

lol I just saw this thread as a related thread to another one I was posting on. I’m pretty new to this, so I didn’t even figure to look at dates.
