Whats with the decline/stagnation in appicants?

Hi Folks, where did you read about a decline? I can’t seem to find that particular article.

Thanks.

astonmartinDBS, Columbia has yet to release figures on how the economic downturn has impacted their endowment. It probably dropped to a similar figure as Penn’s most likely. No biggie there.

IRC, Penn’s endowment dropped 19.4% to $5.0 billion

And if they ever changed the name, it wouldn’t make sense for it to be Wharton (that’d be a slap in the face to Ben Franklin). Ben Franklin >>>> Joe Wharton. It’s either Franklin, or keep Penn as is.

Franklin reminds me of a turtle. no thank you.

Hahaha Franklin University will not do

Well, University of Pennsylvania it is then.

i dunno i mean brown could be confused with a color, columbia with colombia, and cornell with cornell college. i think its just poor marketing. if brown university could create a recognizable name, then so should penn. step 1: commercials

commercials… NO! they are so tacky.
make the NCAA tourney… YES!

Penn is the last Ivy team to make it to the Final Four (1979, when they ran into a little phenomenon named “Magic”). I believe it is also the last Ivy team to win a game in the NCAA men’s tournament. Penn was really a perennial in the tournament until recently (i.e., Fran Dunphy’s departure to coach Temple). It has been to the tournament 22 times since 1970.

Princeton is the last Ivy to win a tourney game, in 1998.

penn basketball sucks

It certainly does under Glen Miller, anyway…grrrr…

I haven’t had a bagel in months…

^^^doesnt make sense.

from an international applicant’s perspective, I found Penn’s approach pretty good…here in India, they conducted programs in 4 cities…out here, Dartmouth seems to be the least recognized amongst the 8 ivies.

There seems to be a lot of sentiment these days for Miller to be canned. Maybe he could be replaced–as he was at Brown–by Michelle Obama’s brother, and then the Penn basketball team could get in on some of that stimulus money. :)

Craig Robinson is at Oregon State. I highly doubt Penn would pay him more $$…

I was being facetious.

No wai?!?!?!?

Wow 21% increase in applications to Brown? Penn needs to get their act together. If we drop again in U.S news rankings I’m going to be ****ed.

“At at certain point, we can’t give each applicant a sufficient amount of attention if there are too many of them overall,” he said. "Right now, we’re at a great point. We’re basically even with last year.

Where did they find this guy…I think we need a new Dean of Admissions

uUH OH THE RANKING BETTER NOT DROP
