What's your favorite European city and why?

Tell me what your favorite city in Europe is and why - I'm trying to figure out where to go next!

I love Edinburgh (where I currently live!). It has amazing history, and it’s a beautiful city. The atmosphere is fantastic as well. Also: There’s a zoo with penguins. Enough said.

However, I also love Trondheim (in Norway). Norway is a beautiful country, and Trondheim is kind of the epitome of this. The people are also very friendly.

Tough question. Spriteling is absolutely right, Norway has some top cities. Bergen (when not raining) and Tromsø are awesome. I couldn’t possibly have an overall favourite, there are just too many!

I loved Dublin! It had great vibes, plenty to do but it wasn’t overwhelming.

When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.

^See, I like London, but its novelty wears off after about a week. Then it’s just busy and loud and dirty.

Arles, France…great market, beautiful weather, sunflowers or lavender as far as the eye can see, Les Beaux, ancient roman ruins including a working coliseum, Van Gogh…I want to go back…

Dublin…the city is so alive

Salamanca and London! Bath is pretty awesome as well!

It’s hard for me to pick a favorite city, but the Balaeric Islands are definitely my favorite place to go! Lots of history, gorgeous beaches, great nightlife.

I’d list London, but who doesn’t love London? My favorites are Vienna, Budapest, and Geneva.

Also, if you end up looking for a place to take a weekend trip or something like that, the country of Bulgaria on the whole is beautiful and currently very underrated. It’s an inexpensive alternative to Italy or Greece, and the food is amazing! The people are very friendly to tourists but not in an obnoxious, greedy way.

Barcelona-so great in so many ways

I loved just about everywhere I went in Sicily. Great weather, great beach, great food, and the people were the friendliest that I found on my trip. Also- climbing Etna is great if you’re the outdoorsy type.

I wasn’t expecting so many votes for Dublin! I’ve been London, and I do like it very much. I’m definitely interested in a Scandinavian city…

Budapest . . for the baths and the glorious Hapsburgian Opera House.

Bergen … . for the delighful mix of history, commerce, natural beauty and skiing . . . and about 2 hours up the fjord being able to see Knute Rickne’s birthplace in the town of Voss.

Kei

Everyplace I’ve visited in Europe has had it’s own personality and was wonderful for what it was. You really can’t go wrong with any place you choose, though I will say some of the French live up to their reputation for rudeness.

If I had to pick just one place to go and spend time, I guess it would have to be Berlin. I think I could spend a lifetime exploring all that city has to offer. It’s not very touristy and there are surprises around every corner.

I also loved Prague for it’s beauty and history, it’s like going back in time…but there are a lot of tourists. You could also never go wrong with London, there’s so much going on and interesting places to explore. The people are also really fun there.

Sevilla, Spain–I spent 3 months there during the fall semester. It’s a real Spanish city, not too many tourists, beautiful architecture, and an old, rich culture. Also the weather is great (except in the summer).

Rome was easily my favorite city. There was so much to see between the Vatican (St. Peter’s Cathedral, Sistine Chapel, museums) and the ruins (Coliseum, the forum, the palantine), not to mention the food which definately lives up to the hype.

I’ve only been to about 9, but I think I like Amsterdam the most.

Barcelona, the city doesn’t sleep!!!
