Aw! We never get to build floats! Powderpuff is a pretty bug deal, though. I’m pretty sure we don’t have any of those big things like Key Club and Mathletes but we do have a pretty good debate team, academic team (they get to go on a local tv show every year!), and we have chem-a-thon which is in the works on how good it could be.

Sometimes I really glad that my school is up on technology and other times I hate it. Like, how was I supposed to know the internet wasn’t going to work so I couldn’t do any homework? Or that the e-mail wouldn’t go through? Or that my computer would decide not to work at all? (A lot of teachers rely on the internet and computers for EVERYTHING. It has its pros and cons) They don’t care. Insta-70%, which is the lowest passing grade at my school. >_>

And if administration knew what we did outside of school they would weep. :P

My school is a magnet school for science and technology. We’re basically a nerd school, haha. We don’t have sports or music, but we do get to go to our boundary schools and play sports/do music there.
We are usually considered as a private school, although we are indeed a public school. It’s hard to explain, haha.

The majority of our school is filled with Asians and Whites, with a very limited amount of Hispanics, and maybe three Blacks.

We don’t really have groups at our school, considering we all just float from one group to the other. However, the Hispanics at our school do tend to hang out amongst themselves and not really hang out with anyone else. Just about everyone at my school is a stoner, but they do care about their education at the same time. They somehow manage to maintain good grades even though our courses are rigorous.

Everyone at our school is very driven and motivated. 97% our senior class this year are going to college, and the other 3% is going into the military. Our staff for the most part are very friendly and easy-going. Most of the teachers make class fun and the material interesting. The math teachers are usually not very popular amongst the students, however.

@xshanbam I think I know what you mean. In my area we have a lot of schools that you have to test into but at the same time its just a public with a technical concentration or something like that.

Huge school, 3000+ students. Our JROTC program is really successful, the leadership kids have a huge budget to plan all the pep rallys, etc., while smaller clubs have to pay out of their own pockets for things. Everyone seems to be super religious yet on drugs at the same time.

Lax is life. School won state championships two years in a row.
A lot of rich and wealthy kids, preppy. very motivated students.
ATHLETICS ARE SO BIG. haha great parties
at every school dance at least three people are arrested/taken away in an ambulance

You can count the number of black students on two hands. There are a lot of asians… (It’s a running joke that when people come to the high school you greet them as: welcome to korea… oh i mean _____ high school)
98% of students go to college

My school is mostly white and very clique-y. Groups rarely change. Basketball is a huge sport here, and we have six different basketball teams.

As for strictness, when ever anyone wants to go to the bathroom during class the teacher has to call for someone from the office to escort them to the bathroom so we don’t do drugs in there. And during a pep rally this guy ran across the gym in a pink tank top and shorts. He got suspended for ten days and got a huge fine.

Also our classes are 85 minutes long, so we only have four classes during the day. We do the same amount of work at as any other school though. So for instance a class at another school might last all year, but at my school it’d only last one semester. I actually like it better that way.

My school is in an upper middle class neighborhood, but is incredibly low performing. We have about 3000 or so students, and 17 buses that bring kids in from outside the neighborhood. Not to be stereotypical, but the students bussed in drag our test scores down. Our college bound percentage and graduation rate is low. I have witnessed kids smoking, selling drugs, and doing sexual acts in the back of classrooms. It’s…interesting…

Drugs, alcohol, and fights during lunch are daily occurrences. Our school keeps one bathroom open to try and prevent vandalism and drug use during class time. I think the main academic problem is that no one cares about being successful. The white kids from the school’s neighborhood are handed everything. Even AP classes are poor excuses for advanced classes.

There is a small section of high performing students that generally stick together. I hang out with a group of close friends and stay focused on what matters in an attempt to avoid the poor atmosphere. School pride is low, but has really increased over the last year due to big sports championships. We absolutely dominate at field hockey, but that’s about it.
