I’m an INTP, but my N and T are weaker than my I and P.

Everyone read the profile of your type to learn how typology actually works with the foundation of cognitive functions rather than just the four preferences.

INTJ…somewhat accurate

I’ve taken multiple Myers-Briggs tests (provided from different sources) and have gotten INTJ every time. I consider it incredibly accurate.

Another analogy is INTJ as applied mathematician vs. INTP as pure mathematician.

INTJ’s greatest strength is introverted intuition (Ni). In applied mathematics, when you learn the specifics of a situation and easily notice the guiding mathematical principles without arriving to a conclusion rigorously, you’re using Ni. If you then articulate your logic rigorously, you’re using thought; introversion vs. extroversion of thought depends on your attitude: if you’re trying to use knowledge that already exists to accomplish something that is useful to people or to improve a system that people already follow, your thinking is extroverted (Te). If you’re pursuing an interesting framework of thinking for its own sake, developing your understanding of new knowledge independently of what anyone finds useful, your thinking is introverted (Ti). INTJ’s secondary strength is Te.

INTP’s greatest strength is Ti and its secondary strength is extroverted intuition (Ne). Pure mathematics is basically the branch of mathematics that creates more mathematics. A pure mathematician uses Ne to become intrigued by possibilities regardless of their “uselessness” and uses Ti to pursue those possibilities, creating new mathematical rules and following them into new territory of theorems and conjectures.

Or there’s INTJ as scientist vs. INTP as philosopher of science – INTJ uses Te to fit into into a logical system that governs many peoples’ interactions with each other and with their work (the scientific community, the scientific method) and Ni to contribute to that system by solving problems. INTP uses Ne to become interested in many different facets of science (from its usefulness to its reliability) and uses Ti to critique the system – not necessarily dismissing it, but working outside the system to point out the true nature of the system according to an individualistic thought process rather than working within the system.

In science, the Te system (the scientific method and community) is the framework within which work is done and that which is worked upon (materials of experiments) is perceived via Ni; in philosophy, the Ti system (thinking for oneself in a unique way) is the framework within which the work is done and in many cases, especially philosophy of science, Ti studies and critiques Te systems.

I got ENFP. Crazy how accurate it is…

Confirmation bias with a side of forer effect, anyone?

INTJ for the win.

INTP…

Pretty accurate. I certainly hate plug and chug type problems in math and physics. I love to understand what a formula or principle MEANS. Furthermore writing proofs consumes a considerable amount of me free time. I also love developing the intuition behind principles and ideas. I also will go through entire conversations not paying any attention to what is being said because I am working on an AMC problem in my head haha!

I don’t think these really mean anything. I’m practically the opposite of most people here, and I consider myself to be the engineering type.

I’m the only ENTJ here…is it really that uncommon?

INTJ. I guess it kind of explains why I want to quantify everything (although I’m probably not nearly as good as most of you guys at math – AIME and AMC problems are the end of me).

INTJ here. The description I read seems to fit me to a tee.

INFP - I used to take these for fun all the time, and I’m borderline between INTP and INFP, but about 90% of the time, the F wins. So INFP.

INTJ, Master Race reporting in. There was an old thread about this and like 90% of the people who posted their type were INTJ’s.

I’m an INTJ.

ENTP I feel like I change alot though.

@Halogen: I’m a lot like you!

INTJ female with INTP and ISTJ tendencies

I can’t be the only one noticing the overabundance of NT’s (especially INTJs) on this thread. I would have expected more ISTJs.

Tested again, and I got ESTP by two percentage points.

Guess I’m either an ESTJ or ESTP depending on my mood.
