There are a lot of INTPs here! Is this normal in the general population or is it just a CC phenomenon?

It is abnormal for the general population. I've seen the numbers hover around 1-2% for the INTJs. The same applies for the INTPs.

You are:
moderately expressed introvert

slightly expressed sensing personality

slightly expressed thinking personality

slightly expressed judging personality

INTJ

introvert, intuitive, thinking, judgement.

i am "bright, impatient, responds to challenges, thinks things over privately, fairness is important, likes to have things decided/planned out..."

No other INFPs? I feel lonely.

Still, this is so accurate it scary.

Pongo: I'm literally on the borderline between INTP and INFP...hence INxP. There does seem to be few of us here--we should totally qualify for URM status in admissions. ;)

Underrepresented in an overrepresented pool of underrepresented persons who chose to post their types.

^True, true.

I did a google search and supposedly INTPs and INTJs each only make up 1% of the general population. I guess it makes sense that people who worry about college on an internet chatboard would be the weird ones inclined towards being anti-social, schizotypal, etc.

...and they're largely represented at UChicago.

It says I am an ENTJ

Fits me perfectly haha.

What personality types are the ones most likely to care about going to Mr. Prestigious U? I'd say INTJ's. Besides, Internet forums are impersonal, which has more of an appeal to I and T. Also, N types are more likely to succeed in college, numerous research done on this, since college helps strengthen N-type reasoning.

As for us perceiving types, it's too easy for us to waste massive amounts of time on Internet forums. Especially those who are unconsciously P and consciously J - which results in a huge mental conflict.

Now, what of INTPs and forums in general? I posted a survey of this on another forum (http://aok.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aokcgi/display.cgi?action=st&fn=22&tn=35956&st=recent&f=22,35956,0,10), and found a large number of INTPs. Maybe I should do that to other forums as well. ^_^

You know, I think there is a correlation between INTP's and wasting time on forums.
Us I's are often more likely to socialize on the Internet than in real-life.

N's probably like forums too - as forums are more abstract than doing things in real life.

T's are more attracted to video games - and besides, it's hard to express affection in an online forum.

P's can't resist wasting massive loads of time.

Also, for those interested, more personality tests:

http://www.outofservice.com/bigfive

My results: http://www.outofservice.com/bigfive/results/?o=12&c=0&e=5&a=10&n=94

That would be interesting too. And... there's also the SLOAN test: (also big five)

http://similarminds.com/bigfive.html

RL|U|EI. Reserved, limbic, unstructured, egocentric, inquisitve. My strongest thing is unstructured

I'm an ENTP.

moderately expressed extrovert

moderately expressed intuitive personality

distinctively expressed thinking personality

slightly expressed perceiving personality

I'm either an ENFP or ENTP. I'm at a crossroads, but I may be more ENFP.

ESTJ.
My SLOAN test was slO|E|n, with my strongest thing being egotistical.
