Interesting responses, guys. It’s nice to see some early birds here planning to transfer. Well, it’s good you guys are starting to plan it out now because it’s the perfect time to!

I forgot to add in my 2 cents.

Are you dissatisfied with your current program?
-Not extremely dissatisfied, but I would go for another stronger program if I had the chance to. My school’s strongest points are Business and Engineering, but my interests lie in Communication/Media (not journalism). I’d give the program a 5-6 out of ten in terms of challenge.

Does another university have a different/stronger program?
-Yes, yes, yes. I would love to transfer to USC. I know they have a strong communication program, so it would be great if I can go there.

Dislike the surrounding environment?
-The surrounding town is anything but wonderful. I’ve grown up in rural areas, suburbs and cities, and my least favorite of all was the rural because of general lack of open-minded people and resources, as well. Also, it’s frustrating to be in a small town with low tolerance toward social topics such as LGBTQ, multiculturalism, liberalism, etc. The students here are fine…it’s just the perimeters beyond the school campus and general downtown area, which isn’t that big to start with.

Dislike the overall student body attitude?
-The overall student body isn’t bad at all. There are some who obviously don’t care about school, but it’s really easy to use that to my advantage to stand out more. The general student body here is somewhat driven, but I can use a bit more competition. Too many people who play really hard, but don’t work as hard.

Want to be closer/farther from home?
-Closer is more ideal. My family is going through tough times right now and we just sold our house. It would be good to go back to school on the west coast for family sake.

Is it too expensive where you’re attending?
-It’s expensive, but I will get instate tuition after my second year if I do stay here. My grandparents are helping me pay for tuition, so I owe them big time. I only applied to USC because of the potential grants and scholarships they offer to incoming freshmen and transfer students. So, if I do get in, I hope to get a really good financial aid package that will allow me to negotiate with my grandparent and let me go there.

Where are you applying to?
-Only USC. I was thinking about applying to the University of Michigan, but I’d much rather stay in PA or be in CA than in MI for the next four years.
