LOL my elementary/middle school was lame, we didn’t have a mascot. Monarch for high school and Trojan for college (although USC’s actual mascot is Traveler).

“A big ****ing tree that gets its inspiration from blackface.”

My god, it was right in my face and yet I never saw the connection. Kudos.

My high school is The Warriors, as it always has been. However, just this past year, our administration decided that it was “derogatory” to Native Americans, and, as a result, some members of my graduation class (2012) decided to to make a new mascot, The Ficus. They made a costume, and someone would dress in it and show up to all the sporting events (and, sometimes, get kicked out/threatened by the head of the coach department). There are even tshirts. I love my class.

High School: The Hurricanes (yep)
College: Phoenix, which given the constant comparison with Hogwarts goes rather well :)

That is awesome. I want to be a ficus.

Well my high school had the most generic mascot in the U.S., the Bulldogs. Of course the Bulldog looks kind of like the UGA Bulldog or the Fresno State Bulldog. Also, though I am from the Detroit area I have to give credit to the area with the best college mascots, that area being lovely Southern California. My undergraduate college, Grand Valley State University in Michigan, has a decent mascot. They are the Lakers (more fitting than say the L.A. Lakers for example). The mascot name is Louie the Laker. As for my graduate school in Fall 2012, they are the Volunteers. I’m pretty sure UT is the only Vol mascot I can think of right now.

Columbia lions!

PHOENIX. Somebody already posted about it, but UChicago is Hogwarts. :D

Hey gvnee89, the Lakers moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles in the 1950s, but kept their nickname thus making it apt based on it’s former location in Minnesota (The Land of 10,000 Lakes). So it is just as fitting, if not more! Anyways, my high school nickname was the Blue Raiders and my college nickname is the Blue Devils. Fitting.

High school we were the cyclones…yeah.
College: Yellow Jackets (Georgia Tech)

It’s like an orange “dinosaur”, but it DOES NOT look like anything from the paleosic era, etc. It just looks like a dinosaur out of Barnie! I REALLY DON’T LIKE IT!!!

The Trojans.

My school mascot is the Tiger. :o

Pioneers/some woman whose head is on fire.

Bucky Badger.

We’re the only school with a badger mascot that I’ve ever heard of.

University of South Florida Bulls. USF’s women’s athletic teams are known as Lady Bulls!

Lady Bulls? Seems like a bit of an oxymoron, but I guess you can’t go around calling your female athletes “Cows.”

Michigan wolverine. Go blue!!!

An elephant: Tuffy the Titan!

Grizzlies -> Coyotes -> Warriors (elementary school, middle school, high school)

RISD’s mascot is always fun. UPenn is kind of ridiculous…

But come on guys… Yale?! Handsome Dan the bulldog? How is that NOT the best?!
