Do they only look at the transcript and grade and/or the exam score? I get that some colleges may be more selective when it comes to the college credit of the AP exam, but in the admissions process do they only look at the fact that you’ve taken the class and the grade?

Most colleges will ask for AP scores only after you have been admitted for possible placement. For the few colleges that do consider AP scores, you will have the option to withhold or delete certain scores so they will not appear when you send them. No colleges will require you to send them though. The fact that you took the class and the grade you got in that class is whats really important.
