I know bearfacts says final grades are usually posted 4 weeks after finals end, but are grades usually posted earlier than this, be it on bearfacts or bspace?

Also, is there any way of seeing how one did on the final itself, since classes and sections are over?

They are usually posted before 4 weeks. Some classes state specifically when the final grades will be posted for each class. For example, on the MCB 102 final, it was specifically stated that the final grade for the course will be posted on bSpace on the 19th.

The 4 weeks deadline is most likely the deadline teachers can submit final grades the latest. Whenever the professor is able to compile final grades and decides to put them into the computer is when you'll find out about it. Some professors might put it up as soon as they are able to determine your grade, while others may figure out your grade, let students know how they did on scores and such and give them a little time to check for grading errors before they submit them. For example, in UGBA 10, Professor Robinson sends out a grade book of everyone's grades and allows people to check for grading errors before making them official then after. So it really depends on the professor's efficiency in grading finals which is when you'll find out about your grade.

I am pretty sure that the deadline is pretty lame. I've gotten grades from fall semester two or three weeks into instruction in spring semester.

Nevertheless, MOST grades should be up by January 15th. I already have all of mine.

If you want to know the grades from final exams and assignments, you usually have to contact the GSI or professor directly. It isn't routinely offered anywhere, though some classes do use bSpace or whatever.
