For people who transferred schools, what were the factors that finally pushed you to switch schools? I’m considering transferring myself, and I want to make sure I’m not making a mistake.
If you can tell us more about why you are thinking of transferring, we might be better able to give you some nuggets of wisdom. For DS, who transferred this past fall from Boston College to LMU following his freshman year, it started to take shape during that first year when he realized he was in the wrong major (economics) and that his university did NOT have an adequate way to prepare him for film production. Yes, they had a film studies major, but they did not have a school of film and tv AND the liberal arts focus he wanted. He came home to LA following a very successful, first year at BC and enrolled at LMU’s SFTV for two summer school classes. The professors, the facilities, everything just bowled him over and he knew he should not return to BC, but seek admission at LMU, which he did. (If you look up my past threads, you can learn more about the story of how he got in SFTV and into the highly coveted production program.) So, for my son, it really was about the curriculum. For other students, there may be different factors that lead to the decision.
