When do fall of 2016 decisions usually come out?

@SALSRL S is still waiting on a decision electrical engineering. Good luck to your S!

@acme Good luck to your S too! Let me know if you hear anything and I will do the same.

@SALSRL, the oddest thing is that his portal changed back to what it had said originally, instead of having the thing about doing a campus visit. Time to call admissions, I’m thinking.

@acme Just checked his portal and it hasn’t changed back. Still says the same thing about doing a visit and changing majors.

@SALSRL, @acme My D’s changed back a couple of days ago and still nothing! We are at 13 weeks.

@udel2020 Thanks. good to know his isn’t the only one.

My daughter is at 13 weeks and counting, also. In State with good stats, 2130 SAT, but currently leaning toward attending Temple U, as she was offered the full tuition scholarship there. She is not likely to get much merit from UD, but they have a very strong Fashion Merchandising program. Her interest in UD has waned as the weeks are ticking by…

My daughter also hasn’t heard back yet (and application was complete in early October). She decided on Temple U also (got a nice scholarship). We went to admitted students day there and she fell in love with it. Plus, she feels unwanted/insulted that she hasn’t heard back from UDel.

I applied 10/28 to the business school OOS. I have a 3.7 gap and 26 act. What could be taking so long to hear back?

Can’t figure UDel out. They are losing a lot of very qualified students who have moved on. Not a word at all from them and all the other schools my S applied to have reached out multiple times with emails and postcards etc.

My S received a letter stating he would hear mid-February. Tick-tock…its the 26th…leaning towards other amazing opportunities that have already been offered. Not sure what’s taking so long?

@GNWmom Mine never even received that letter. No communication at all.

No communication has been received from UD by my daughter since she submitted her application, either @SALSRL . To say the least, it has been very disappointing to our In-State family. UD was high on her list, but the love has faded as the silence continues. We attended an accepted students day at Temple last Saturday, and we were all so impressed that she is planning to attend there. UD is only school that my daughter has not heard from, she has been accepted to all 7 of the others she applied to, with nice merit offers.

What does UD’s “Pledge to Delawareans” actually mean???

@mamag2855 Congratulations to your D for all of her acceptances! I feel your disappointment in your state school. Temple is a great school. My son has already been accepted to the Engineering schools at both Ohio State and Virginia Tech so at this point I think he has written off UDel. A family friend applied to UDel Business the first week of October and just had his portal updated the end of last week.

WooHoo!!! Accepted 2day into Nursing!! Applied mid Oct, got the “wait letter” in Jan, so YES there is hope - stay positive, super psyched - Yay!!

October 1st Application Complete. Received notification on the portal on January 8th essentially saying that we need more time to ‘evaluate’ your application and we hope to provide you good news by mid-February. On January 12th we received a letter via US mail, which was dated January 7th (yes, before the notification letter on the portal) indicating the same thing, they indicated they hope to give us good news by mid-April? When we received the letter we realized we were ‘deferred’ or ‘wait-listed’ or ‘their plan b’ – like being the back-up invites to a wedding. When we called them on the letter, they stopped short of saying we were wait listed, saying there were a lot of competitive applications, and that if there was anything else we wanted to send to strengthen our application we should.

UD’s lack of transparency and their unwillingness to be direct and upfront has caused us to focus our attention elsewhere.

My S applied to 7 schools, was accepted to 6. The only school he hasn’t heard from to date has been Delaware. 20 weeks and counting, and unfortunately we cannot wait anymore. We’re about ready to contact admissions and request they refund our application fee.

As I mentioned way back in this thread. Last year UD had more kids accept admission than they normally expect. This caused a housing crunch. So I think they are holding back acceptances to see who accepts from their initial batch of acceptances and then going from there. Maybe, they are going a bit too far though.

I also believe it all as to do with majors. My D was accepted in early Nov. She is a speech major. Something not many kids apply for. So they accepted her quickly. She decided to go to Penn State and has turned down her acceptance to open another spot for someone else.

Keep the faith. My older D is a junior at UD and loves it.

When can we expect to hear back from UDEL? We are 16 weeks or more out and not a word. My son got into to all schools he applied (3 big 10) ready to make a decision what’s the hold up? This is our 3rd time around the block! It seems that many of the other universities planned for higher applications this year as we heard much sooner than we did with our other 2 students but this is crazy. My son is dissapointed needless to say …oh forgot to mention our other son is a sophmore at UDEL OS

@njmamapapa We are OOS and in the same position. My S has been waiting 15+ weeks now. He applied to Electrical Engineering. My D applied 2 yrs ago and was accepted in 8 weeks. We are almost double that now! Which program did your S apply to?

SALSRL my son applied to the business school. When I called admissions 2 weeks ago they said was I aware that they received 26,000 applications? Really ok so is that my problem? All the other universities that we applied to received that , if not more. Either they do not have enough people reviewing applications or they are only offering the highest qualified applicants first and waiting to see who accepts & decline those who really don’t meet standards , the ones in the middle just have to wait. (Like us) I am just a little dissapointed as we are UDEL parents already & my son is more then qualified for this school. Of course no guarantee he’d go if admitted but our app was all completed by 11/2 . Good luck to you!! Keep checking the portal!
