just wondering, when do freshmen get their uiuc email? I just want to use it in the facebook website... if it's already out.. where do you go to get it?

https://login.express.cites.uiuc.edu/ there I think? its somewhere. F = first letter of first name, L= first 6 ( i think ) letters of last name:

FLLLLLL2@uiuc.edu

can't actually use it till after it's activated after your orientation though (if you're wondering for facebook purposes).

I havn't gone to orientation and mine is activated. try it.

i called the number on the cites page and they said your email will be able to be accessed approximately 2-3 business days after you register for classes at your orientation. When i asked if I could get mine working earlier so i could give co-workers and people at my internship an accurate way to contact me during the school year (because i dont register and attend orientation until Aug 18th) they said no.

i dont know what to tell you taffy, either you got lucky or cites was incorrect, but my sister and her friends were unable to access theirs until 2 days after they attended orientation.

i think they set up your email awhile ago, and sent a letter saying how to use it. i set mine a month or two ago. these websites kind of explain how-to:
http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/express/gettingstarted.html
https://www-apps.cites.uiuc.edu/password/index.html

at first i didn't know my username..so i looked in the the electronic directory http://webtools.uiuc.edu/ricker/PH
to find it..most people i know have the first letter of their first name, last name, then 2...
hope that helped

I forgot how I did, but I set mine up before I went to registration. I just looked around on the site and figured it out.

yea my email has been set up for a long time. i activated it in may, but the 1st email in my inbox from the university was dated december 2005

yep, looks like whoever gave me the info about having to wait till after orientation was wrong, i just tried my account again, got in fine. thanks for the pointer.
