Rejected… Hmmmm 35 on ACT, AP Scholar w/ Distinction, val, Soccer player, took 14 AP classes, was in a leadership group, heavy volunteering. I even called and they said I would get accepted because I got an invitation. Whats up w/ this? Do you think there might have been a mix-up? I spent a lot of time on those essays too…

Choco, are you set on UF? There’s another opportunity to join the Honors program. If you have a 3.5 or over during your first semester at UF, you can get into the Honors Program through Lateral Admission. No worries. :)

That comment goes out to anyone who wasn’t accepted into the Honors program first time around. Part of what they consider during the lateral admissions process is “Did the candidate apply to join the Honors program when they initially applied to UF?”. If you really want to join the honors program at UF, just do well your freshman semester by keeping a 3.5 or over, and then just apply through Lateral Admissions. The lateral admissions process is in many ways easier.

See, the problem w/ that is, I don’t want to go to a college where I feel like I’m not appreciated. I was completely set on UF Honors (not regular UF)… I really dont know why I didn’t get Honors. I just wish I knew why. Do you think I should contact them?

You should contact them and ask whats up… I’m surprised that you didn’t get in, knowing that there are people who weren’t invited to apply that got in

I got denied, I won several national competitions, had plenty of leadership and community service and I was well over the minimum SAT score for honors (by almost 200 points)

okay so I was not invited to apply to the Honors Program initially and did not and did not know about the application and what not. I did not really mind because I’m a dual enrollment student coming in with 74 credits and I read that the Honors Program is really a program that is beneficial during a persons first 2 years as they work towards their GE. But i received an email from the director on March 28 stating that they were inviting me to apply. The only reason why I actually did is because one of the scholarships im getting from UF is dependent upon me being in the Honors Program. now Im confused as to whether i even have a chance of getting in since it wasn’t until after i completed the app at 10:49 pm that I needed to send in a $40 check and a signed paper. I just wanted to see if anyone else was going through the same situation :/

What a joke that I was not admitted to the honors program…2290 SAT, Top 5% of class, plenty of EC’s. I was even admitted to some much better schools than UF, but UF was still a school that a was widely considering, now I don’t know. Is there anyway that I can still get in? I know they said no appeals and all but this is seem like a joke. Seems like they arbitrarily picked the honors acceptances.

I think they weren’t admitting people whom they believed would not matriculate.

I know what you mean. . . Now, despite how much GaTech might cost, I think I will go there.

I gave up my Georgia Tech spot this morning, I got accepted to some other really nice schools but UF was affordable

could some of you who were accepted/denied post your stats?

That’s what i was thinking Syphax… chocotaco, did you pay housing contract/sign up for preview?

Denied

Has anyone else not received notification yet? I got the invite to the visitation day, but still no official word. -__-

Accepted

SAT 2180
IB

trying to decide btw UF and UNC-CH honors

@ ZapadniyRus: Yes, I paid the contract, but I haven’t signed up for preview yet. I’ve paid the $200 tuition though. It looks like I’ll be going to GaTech (99% chance) right now.

Does anyone know how many Honors students were accepted? Perhaps the admission rate was really low this year!

I am also interested in knowing how many were accepted. My daughter attended the Honors event in November and was invited to attend this last one this weekend as well. I think it is funny that she was invited to this weekend’s event and then was rejected. She has also paid her housing deposit but has not signed up for preview. She would have attended UF if she got honors, but that is out now. Nevertheless, she has been accepted at some amazing out of state schools as well as others in Florida.
