yeah thats what i would guess. but overnight would be nice.

Umm, if I remember right, we were able to call in by December 11th [I think it was a Thursday].... I got my FedEX acceptance letter on Saturday, the 13th.

Last year the booklet said "mid-December" so everyone thought that meant Dec. 15. Then on December 10th the Stanford newspaper had an article with the early admissions statistics and they mailed out the decisions that day. Son's arrived the next day, the 11th, but we are close to campus. It was a big white envelope with "Congratulations" in red across the front. It was not Fedexed because of our proximity, obviously.

International students and others were allowed to call a couple of days later if they didn't have the decisions and I believe email was also used for international student notification (just from what I saw on this site, I don't know that for sure).

70% reject? OUCH

70% reject? for stanford? its waaaaay more that that, its about 90% reject.. unless you are talking about something else.

EA reject might be closer to 60, 65%, actually...i think that's what he was talking about...

OVERALL reject rate, yea, its insane, 90% or so, maybe a bit less

It says CONGRADULATIONS on the outside?? I thought it was just big envelope/small envelope...

-Ender

Nope, it really does say that. Leaves no doubt in anyone's mind. (only it's congraTulations...)

lol only on the stanford board will people correct spelling mistakes hahaha...

wait, so what is the early acceptance rate?

Durr...

After an hour and a half of Calc I'm great with the good old integers but can't spell to save my life. I guess I'm waiting till the tenth to hear from Stanford.

Also -- does anyone know how they handle outside letters, for example, what if some Stanford Alum wrote you a rec. letter separate from your app. and just send it straight to the office?

-Ender

I know that someone did that for me, and they got a response from stanford saying to send more information about this program i was involved with

So you got the impression that they take those into account?

-Ender

"wait, so what is the early acceptance rate?" it was around 20% last year

but this year i feel its gonna be lower

My guess is more like 14 this year.

I'm thinking the rate is going to be similar to last year's. Last year there was a huge influx of people applying Early to Stanford, since they switched from ED to EA. So I think it might cool off a little this year, but I'm not sure.
